Is Bernard letting the power of popularity get to his head? The more popular he becomes, the more he gets sucked into the society. John is going to be disappointed when he finds that Lenina isn't the pure girl that he assumes. Linda is on the verge of overdosing on soma, since she isn't even really consciese of what is around her.
Bernard and Lenina meet John and his wrinkled mother Linda. They are having a good change in pace at the reservation and are learning a lot from theyre cultural traditions. Bernard tells Lenina that he didn't wanna have sex with her the night before, he wanted to act like an adult instead. They are granted permission to travel to the reservation, which they do. Lenina and Brenard are spending a lot of time together. Every other Thursday, Bernard takes part in a service with others and they take a lot of soma. This always ends in an orgy. What's the obsession with sex in this society? It is very weird to me that this cloned society is so developed around sex. First off, all the clones are sterile so they cant have children, yet they have sex very often with many different partners. They start off having sex at a very young age which are still children in our society. I find this odd because of the fact that our age of consent is 16, yet these children are starting to have sex at the age of 6.
The story is getting more peculiar then before. The fact that these clones are on drugs in order to sustain happiness blows my mind. This blows my mind because the people who are doing the cloning feel as if the clones wont be happy without artificial happiness.
So far, the diction of this text has set up a cruel and dark plot. The fact that these people are being cloned and brainwashed is outrageous. The text also makes it seem like it is completely justified although it is sick and demented.
